Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, met with the consortium of the French company Vinci for Major Projects, in order to follow up on the implementation of the third phase of the third line of the metro according to the agreed timetables
In addition to Vinci, the alliance includes: Orascom and the Arab Contractors. The meeting was attended by Major General Issam Wali, Head of the Tunneling Authority, and the heads of the three companies that make up the coalition
The minister reviewed the rates of implementation of the three parts of the third phase of the third line of the metro that is being implemented, which are 3A, 3B and 3C, where the work of implementing the three phases will be completed in successive order and according to the planned schedule.

The minister followed up the rates of implementation of each part, stressing the need to implement all works according to high-quality measurements, intensifying equipment at sites, working around the clock, and holding periodic meetings during the coming period between Vinci officials and the National Tunnels Authority for speedy completion.
The Minister of Transport stressed the need to increase implementation rates, especially with the great importance of the project in achieving the required traffic flow
He pointed out that the third line is the link between the first line of the metro, which is the first metro line in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Middle East, as it will exchange passenger transport services with it at “Nasser” station, and with the second line of the metro at “Ataba” and “Ataba” stations. “Cairo University” and with the light electric train (LRT) at the “Adly Mansour” interchange station. It will also achieve integration of transportation service with the administrative capital’s monorail at the “Stadium” station in Nasr City, and with the Sixth of October monorail at the “Nile Valley” station.
He added that the political leadership has directed the expansion of completing the metro network in parallel with the establishment of a giant transportation network of environmentally friendly electric traction means, which constitute a major qualitative leap in the means of transportation and communication in Egypt.
It is worth mentioning that the third phase, which has a length of 17.7 km, includes (15) stations, and is implemented in three parts. It includes (4) tunnel stations, which are “Nasser – Maspero – Zamalek – Kit Kat”.
The second part of the third stage (3B): It extends for a length of 6.6 km from the Kit Kat station until the final station at the axis of Rawd Al-Faraj, passing through Al-Sudan Street, Makar Imbaba, Al-Bouha, and Al-Qawmia Al-Arabiya, then it crosses the ring road to reach the Rawd Al-Farag station, and it includes 6 stations. Underpass station (Sudan) and 4 elevated stations (Imbaba - Al-Bouhy - Al-Qawmia Al-Arabiya - Ring Road) and a surface station (the final station at the Rawd Al-Farag axis)].
The third part of the third stage (3C): It extends for a length of 7.1 km from Kit Kat Station to Cairo University, passing through Wadi El-Nil Street, Arab League and Boulaq El-Dakrour, and includes 5 stations [3 tunnel stations (Al-Tawfiqia - Nile Valley - Gameat El-Dewal) and an upper station (Cairo University) and a surface station (Bulaq al-Dakrour)]
