The Japanese company "Quantum Operations Inc." has developed a non-invasive device to measure blood sugar levels continuously.
The company unveiled the new wearable device during the virtual event "CES 2021", which uses the company's patented spectrum technology to accurately measure glucose in a person's bloodstream through the skin, without the need to use a needle.
According to the "Gizmo China" website, the Japanese company confirms that its secret mixture lies in the patented spectroscopy materials, which were integrated into the watch and its bracelet.
To use it, the wearer simply needs to move the watch and activate the watch from the menu, and after about 20 seconds the data is displayed.
The device, which looks like an Apple smartwatch, consists of a small spectrophotometer used to test blood to measure glucose, and this technology can also be used to measure a variety of vital signs, including heart rate and electrocardiogram (ECG).
"Until now, inserting a needle into your finger or arm was the only available way to accurately measure glucose, and our device will change that painful habit, making the painful daily routine unnecessary for all diabetics," said CEO Kazuma Kato. "We expect to sell the device to insurance companies and healthcare providers, as well as build an accurate big data platform, and provide better solutions for disease control and management."Using this technology, diabetic patients will be able to replace the daily routine of using a needle for measurements by simply attaching it to a wearable device similar to a wristwatch.
